How iCalendar works
To export a feed in iCalendar format, you need to create a page in WordPress admin with the template: ICAL FEED. Once that page is generated, the link you can find in the calendar section becomes active and you can export the booking data into other websites like Airbnb.
To export your calendar data, copy the url (e.g. https://wprentals.org/ical-feed-export/?ical=763310533de8d2e03fe564b0693bcc344) and paste it into the other website. For example, below is a screen capture with the Airbnb import feature indicating where you should post the link. Airbnb will then read the booking data from your website and synchronise it with their version of the listing.
Note: the iCalendar link will export data in ics format, which is non-readable by web browsers.
In the calendar section, paste the external feed of the iCalendar. Once you save it, the first synchronisation is made and data gets imported. A check will be made every 3 hours for any new updates. If you want to manually trigger the synchronisation, just push Save again.
The feed you paste in is created by other property websites, e.g. in the image below you can see the Airbnb feed.
Note: the iCalendar link will export data in ics format which is non readable by web browsers.
The external booking data will appear in the calendar page with a special purple label (bookings made on the Brecon Beacons Cottages website will be in green). It would show either the external source (e.g. Airbnb) or ‘external’ (for websites which don’t add their name in the UID parameter in iCalendar feed).
You can import multiple feeds.
